Why I built TEEN

February 10, 2026 ยท 3 min read

I started TEEN because the gap between what research says about teen stress and what teenagers actually do about it is enormous. There are thousands of studies. There is almost nothing a stressed 16-year-old can use at 11pm with three assignments left.

So I did three things. I read the peer-reviewed work on how stress is defined and measured in adolescents. I collected anonymous schedule and stress information from real high-school students. And I started designing a wrist-worn device that watches for the body signals that tend to rise before you notice you're stressed.

This site is the teen-facing half of that project. Everything here is meant to be usable in under two minutes โ€” the Stress Check, the stress hacks, the data. The research is still here, just moved behind a door marked "want the science?" instead of being the first thing you have to read.

TEEN is an educational project, not medical advice. If something feels heavier than a hard week, please talk to a trusted adult or a local crisis line.
